This Member Agreement is an interim framework and will be updated as NFRA formalizes its operations and onboarding processes, hires staff, and introduces membership types and dues. Members will be notified of any updates.

This NFRA Member Agreement reflects a shared understanding and commitment to maintaining the trust and privacy of NFRA members. By filling out the form below and clicking "I Agree," I acknowledge that I have read and agree to follow these guidelines as a Member Delegate, Member Representative, or Unaffiliated Member. 

Purpose

The National Food Recovery Association (NFRA) is a member-based network of food recovery organizations and individuals committed to maximizing food use, minimizing wasted food, advancing food security, and promoting sustainable food recovery practices. This agreement outlines expectations for collaboration, data sharing, and confidentiality among NFRA members.

Guidelines for Members

Collaboration, Cooperation, and Participation

• Members agree to participate constructively in NFRA initiatives, including sharing knowledge, resources, and best practices.

• Members may collaborate on projects but retain independence to work with other organizations in or outside of NFRA.

• Members agree to engage respectfully and in good faith with other NFRA members.

• Members may discontinue participation at any time.

Data Sharing

• NFRA’s intent is to use member data to strengthen the collective impact, visibility, and effectiveness of the food recovery sector as a whole.

• Members may be asked to share data to help NFRA understand collective impact for the purpose of advancing the edible food recovery industry and informing collaborative, solution-focused initiatives (e.g., pounds of food recovered, number of donors and recipients, volunteers, and geographic reach). 

• Aggregate member data may be shared with stakeholders, including food donors, lawmakers, funders, etc. to influence policies, procedures, and awareness of the edible food recovery industry and NFRA members. 

• Member data may also be used in aggregate to support NFRA’s fundraising efforts, including grant applications, reporting, and communications that demonstrate the collective impact of the network. NFRA and its members will not use member data to compete with, duplicate, or disadvantage individual members in pursuing funding opportunities.

• Members may request that their data be excluded from aggregate use at any time by submitting an emailed request to the NFRA Board to Team@NationalFoodRecoveryAssociation.org. NFRA will honor such requests to the extent reasonably possible.

Use of Name & Affiliation

• NFRA may list member organizations by name in directories, communications, or materials, unless a member requests otherwise.

Confidentiality

• Members agree to respect the confidentiality of other members’ sensitive information.

• Requests for additional privacy will be honored by NFRA and its working groups; please email requests to the NFRA board at Team@NationalFoodRecoveryAssociation.org.

Non-Financial Commitment

• This agreement does not require financial contributions or other resources from members.

• Any future membership fees, funding, donations, or resource transfers will be governed by separate agreements.

Intellectual Property

• Members retain ownership of their own trademarks, copyrights, data & metrics, and other intellectual property.

• Use of another member’s IP requires prior written approval.

Amendments

• NFRA may update this agreement over time. Members will be notified of material changes.
