Aubrey Alvarez, Board Treasurer
Aubrey Alvarez is a native Iowan whose career has centered on building meaningful connections to create systems that serve people better. Whether she was developing fitness programs, designing corporate sales incentives, or reimagining local food systems, Aubrey brings curiosity, creativity, and persistence to every challenge.
After more than 15 years in the health and wellness sector, she transitioned into the nonprofit world in 2013 as a local food coordinator—and quickly realized the opportunity to do more. She went on to found and lead a nonprofit dedicated to rebuilding the food system so it works for everyone.
Throughout her career, Aubrey has built bridges across sectors and geographies, creating networks of doers, dreamers, and system-shakers. She has helped launch more than 300 community refrigerators across the country, expanding access to fresh food through community-driven solutions. Her work is grounded in the belief that relationships are the root of change. By leading with justice, kindness, and collaboration, she continues to connect people and resources in ways that spark ideas, shift power, and drive impact.
