NFRA Board of Directors

  • Jennifer England

Jennifer England, Co-Chair and Vice President of External Affairs at Food Rescue Hero™, is a passionate advocate for scaling food rescue as a solution to food waste and food insecurity. As part of the founding team behind 412 Food Rescue and former director of their food recovery operations, Jen learned firsthand the complexity of running a food rescue. In her current role, she works closely with both the Food Rescue Hero Network and the 412 Food Rescue team to grow food recovery through advocacy and education. Jen spearheaded Food Rescue University, a teaching, mentorship, and certification tool accessible to all Food Rescue Hero Network partners, and also hosts two monthly webinar series to help interested organizations and individuals learn more about how to launch and grow food recovery operations.

Seeing a gap in collaboration and sharing ideas in the food recovery landscape, she launched the Food Rescue Conference, an all virtual two-day event designed to feature new solutions and trends in food recovery, specifically focusing on actionable information for food recovery professionals. Over the past few years, she observed a need for food recovery to have a voice nationally and set the wheels in motion for the founding of the National Food Recovery Association, the board of which she currently co-chairs. Jennifer also serves on the board of the national organization #MEAction and is Co-Chair of the PA Food Policy Council Edible Food Working Group.

Prior to starting her food rescue journey, Jen completed the coursework for a PhD in the history of American Social Movements and was the founder of a boutique communications company for advocacy non-profits. She continues to hope we can save the world through our collective action.

She helped expand the Massachusetts branch, launched the Rhode Island branch, and served as Director of Partnerships and Government Relations.

Dana remains active in the nonprofit space and serves on several boards and coalitions, including the Rhode Island Food Policy Council, the Rhode Island Food Strategy, and the Zero Food Waste Coalition. As a Founding Board Member of the National Food Recovery Association, she supports solutions that make food sustainability a Best Practice.
