National Food Recovery Association (NFRA) is a member-driven network of food recovery organizations and experts across the U.S. committed to minimizing wasted food through prevention and the redistribution of surplus to people first.

Our Mission

The mission of the National Food Recovery Association (NFRA) is to advance the edible food recovery industry through collaborative, solution-focused initiatives that identify and support industry-best practices. The NFRA contributes to positioning edible food recovery as an essential and sustainable feature of the U.S. food system through increasing the visibility, inclusion, and endorsement of food rescue organizations. 

Our Vision

The National Food Recovery Association (NFRA) envisions a future where edible surplus food recovery is a cornerstone of every community’s approach to food and nutrition security, environmental stewardship, and economic vitality. By fostering collaboration and supporting organizations of all sizes, NFRA aims to create a well-connected field that elevates the voices of food recovery experts to define industry standards and influence a supportive regulatory framework. This will be achieved through the development of programs designed to establish industry benchmarks, promote food recovery and Association Members nationwide, encourage joint-funding opportunities, advocate for supportive food sustainability policies, and more.

Eligibility

NFRA welcomes all U.S. based organizations and unaffiliated individuals actively engaged in programs such as edible surplus food recovery, redistribution, or facilitation within the logistics chain in the U.S.
